• Become your top priority

If you want to be productive, you have to be sharp. You have to be able to spot time-sucking tasks and reduce them. You have to be a step ahead of the game at all times. In order to be that person, you must be fit, rested, and a priority in your own world.

If this means getting up 30 minutes early so you can take a brisk walk to get your heart pumping, do it. If this means skipping the stressful line at the coffee shop, skip it! • Time-Blocking

These are small blocks of time, set aside each day to accomplish something on your list. This means to shut off the cell phone, close the office door, and shut off your email. The world will not come to an end if you step away from it for 30 to 60-minutes per day.

• Get a new perspective

Have lunch with someone who works at the other end of the spectrum. Brainstorm with other co-workers. Sometimes just knocking your train off the same old track is enough to get you thinking again.

• Ask for help

This is very hard for some people. With this said, you do not have to ask for help with your project. You can ask someone to help with filing, emailing, putting research away, You can ask someone to cover your calls for a little while or to update your email addresses. Just ask. Most people are glad to help you if they know you need it. Don’t forget to say thank you and offer to do the same for them when their time comes.

Becoming more productive doesn’t come overnight. It takes discipline and hard work. At the end of the day, it is the best gift you can give yourself, and your company.
