Leading small groups and teams can be one of the toughest jobs in the world, because it requires many skills, some of which include patience, persistence, discipline, transparency, loyalty, and tolerance. Leaders need these qualities because they have to set an example by following these certain rules themselves. Sometimes, this is why most people at executive posts need coaching to strengthen their leadership strategies.

Let’s look at five important tips that can help improve your leadership tactics and help you take your team to a new level with improved efficiency:
1. Communicate early and follow through: If you wait until the last moment to communicate with your group about upcoming events, event updates and the likes, there will be greater chances of facing problems with whatever you are working to achieve. You need to keep the group in the loop all the time and constant reminders will only do well, Hold meetings regularly, keep in touch via SMS, calls and social media if necessary.
2. Think through and prepare questions: Even if your group or team comprises of highly educated, professional or experienced members, there will probably be newbies joining in at different times. The best and quickest way to ensure that everyone is on the same page and understands everything properly is by asking question. Prepare a list of FAQs or technical questions that will help keep everyone in the flow of things and help newbies to catch up instantaneously.
3. Keep group dynamics in check: Sometimes while old members are used to you, and know about you, new comers need a clear and positive insight into what you are, what you do and what you believe in. Do not lose focus and do not share comments or remarks that would send new comers a wrong signal about you or your purpose.
4. Have a positive approach towards handling conflict: Where there are people from different backgrounds working together, there is bound to be some disagreement. If you as a leader ignore these differences, they can be a flaming inferno waiting to explode. Therefore, you need to take immediate action and put the two sides in check. Playing the blame-game is never the right approach, so find a diplomatic approach.
5. Stick to the plan and be optimistic: There will be challenges in whatever mission your group or team has. No matter what, stick to the plan and continue moving forward. Be positive and keep the group positive as well. This is the key to success. If plan A fails, make sure there is always a plan B.
Attending coaching services for better leadership skills is never a bad idea; it will help you improve your approach with these five tips. In fact, there may be other aspects of leadership, which you are not aware of, and professionals can help you out by pointing out your weaknesses as a leader.

A great article as these 5 tips are the foundation of running any type of small group without them everything else collapses like quicksand. Good commonsense advice.
