In the UK, life coaching is now a common thing among business leaders as well as other professionals. Coaching can be referred to as a form of teaching or training process in which an individual gets support while learning to achieve a specific personal or professional result or goal. Life coaches are normally hired by either organizations or privately by individuals.

Life coaching is a practice that helps people identify and achieve personal goals. Life coaches assist people by using a variety of tools and techniques. In business, some executives hire professional life coaches to guide them towards optimizing their performances while also applying the techniques learned to improve the productivity of other team members or staff. When things are not going right, there is the need to hire a life coach.
But in the right sense of the word, coaching alone is not what matters, but hiring the right coach is what makes the difference. There are plenty of coaches out there who provide life coaching in the UK, but many business executives and individuals have difficulty finding a coach they feel truly compatible with. The following are some of the things to consider while choosing a life coach:
Identifying the Problem
This is the first thing to take into account when thinking of hiring a coach. Many people have hired wrong coaches simply because they fail to get the ones whose specialties in coaching match the problem at stake. When you identify the problem and its peculiarities to your personal or business life, that will guide you to bringing on an expert in that area is essential to getting the suitable solution to the problem or in the case of a business, to get the falling company back on track. This will help you narrow down your potential coach choices as well as prepare you for some of the realities of coaching. A coach is there to identify problems and help solve them.
Ascertain the Coach’s Competence
Making the mistake of hiring someone who will keep wandering in the wilderness just like you trying to show you how to get to where you want to be can never produce any meaningful results. ‘You cannot lead someone anywhere that you have not gone yourself’ so goes the saying. The coach you want to hire must be such that he has himself overcome some great obstacles and has been able to maintain a bright disposition and has achieved many if not all his own goals. You can also find out all of this through the testimonials from those whose lives have been improved by the coach.
Certification/Accreditation
Check from the coach’s credentials to know apart from his own goals, how many people has he helped to achieve their goals? Also ensure that the life coach you are hiring possesses suitable qualifications that authenticate their competence in life coaching. There are organizations and government agencies that certify life coaches in the UK. Don’t just seek to know if the coach has a certificate or is accredited, but ensure that the coach certificate or accreditation is from a genuine source.
In conclusion, as life coaching in the UK is fast becoming increasingly competitive with more and more life coaches springing up by the day, it is therefore important to take into into consideration all aforementioned points in order to avail yourself a suitable life coaching service.

September 10, 2014 at 12:27 amThis is another form of coaching that I need to explore. I have been thinking about becoming a type of coach and after I watched your video in this poast http://www.coaching-blog.com/gerard-odonovan-world-coaching/ it pretty much settled my mind that this is something I would like to explore.
A Life Coach is something I would really enjoy because it helps people identify and achieve their personal goals. This would be extremely fullfilling for me on a personal level knowing I help some one change the course of their life.
Amazing and very powerful information you are giving out here. It really does make a difference in a persons life.

September 18, 2014 at 11:36 pmI completely agree that you must identify the problem. Sometimes you may hire a coach only to find out that they aren’t helping you or making a difference in your life or career, and the first thing that comes to mind is that “well, they just aren’t a very good coach.” But that isn’t always the case – that person could be a wonderful coach, but just not the right one for you. Hiring someone who understands you and knows exactly what you’re trying to achieve will create the best chance for success.

September 20, 2014 at 5:46 amI have really never explored life coaching, but it sounds really interesting. I’ve heard that it is useful in many situations including different types of business. I would imagine it’s also really good for start ups, to learn the best ways to get the business off the ground.
