1) You need a revenue plan for your blog.
For any blog to work, it has to be profitable. The blogs that are the most profitable are receiving multiple revenue streams. My blog’s primary revenue stream is from marketing services clients. The secondary revenue stream is from advertising. If you have a business, then you should focus your blog on building the revenue of that business first.
2) You have to know your audience.
If you are a business, then your audience should be your target customer. You will want to identify what there pain points are and what types of articles will help them. From there, you build out a content plan that will allow you to consistently publish articles that are relevant to them.
3) You need strong call-to-actions.
There are three primary placements for call-to-actions around a blog post (above the post, below the post, and the side bar). The most important location is below the post. If the reader gets to this point, then they are in the best position to be converted. Keep it simple and make it congruent to the landing page that you send them to.
