Day 29 Tuesday 17th July
Well I have to say being an interesting time here in Tirana-
I arrived yesterday and broke down literally 100 m from where I was staying – turned out to be a blessing.
For some reason the bike wouldn’t start-
I had stalled it- and could not get it going again !!!!– as I was blocking a road I manhandled the bike off to one side
Then just walked to the guesthouse and checked in-
I telephoned the AA breakdown service, not because I wanted them to come out immediately I just wanted to check that they would if I needed them- and yes they would – so that reassured me. 😊 ( the cavalry to the rescue if I needed them )
Went back to the bike- it was still blisteringly hot- could almost fry an Egg on the petrol tank – so I manoeuvred it into some shade and let it sit for a couple of hours-
then when I tried it again 😊 All Good – it started first time 😊 perhaps something to do with me stalling it – Who Knows.
I then decided to treat the bike to a new set of tyres- seeing as I have been riding on almost canvas for the last hundred miles !
Found a dealer with the right size tyres and bought a pair of – Dunlop TrailSmart – however they were not able to fit them so they called up a local service guy – who arrived on a tiny Moped- and I followed him to his back street garage where we fitted the tyres-
A long day but all ended well-
Tirana seems really lovely, very cosmopolitan, busy, lots to do and be less than one euro a pint 😊
